Her biography

J.K. Rowling was born in Chipping Sodbury, near Bristol in England, in 1965 She followed studies of language and literature at the university of Exeter and in Paris. She worked initially in London within Amnesty International association and taught French.

It is in 1990 that the idea of Harry Potter and his school of magicians started to germinate in her head while  she was waiting for ﮙ a train which was late. It is however only three years later that she started to write the adventure of the sorcerer's apprentice.

During this time, Joanne left to teach in Portugal. Then she married a Portuguese journalist and had a little girl, Jessica. After her divorce, a few months later, she settled in Edinburgh. She lived then in a precarious situation.

For six months, she was devoted to the writing of her book. The continuation resembles a fairy tale ¥ . The first agent to which she sent her manuscript retained it at once for publication. The book was then sold with the bidding in the United States for the largest advance never versed with an author for youth! The first volume of Harry Potter met as of his publication a phenomenal success, both in Great Britain and with the étanger. It was translated into thirty languages and vingtmillion of explaires sold in the world entieren the eighteen months space. “Harry” gained the most prestigious prices, in all the countries or it was published.
